By  |

Submitted by the St. Alphonsus Conference of SVDP
Serving the central area for over 50 years, St. Vincent de Paul has been a part of St. Alphonsus Church since 1962, shortly after the church was first established. Currently there are approximately 60 active members who diligently give their service to meet the needs of the poor in our area. The conference operates a food pantry, provides financial assistance, and helps in varying ways according individual needs. The number of clients receiving aid has grown from 867 in 1988 to approximately 5000 in 2014.
Our food pantry works in conjunction with the E.B.R. food bank to supplement the food for our clients. We distribute food every Wednesday from our current location on Frenchtown road between 9am. and 12pm. Our parish has designated the 3rd sunday of every month for food collections, however, donations are accepted any time through the church office. Although our main source of funding is through the parishioners of St. Alphonsus, the majority of those we serve are from other faiths.
We welcome all donations. Checks must be made out to St. Vincent DePaul and come through the church office at St.Alphonsus. If you would like to have a barrel placed in your business for collections please contact the church office @261-4650. We also set appointments for emergency assistance through our message service. 261-1222. The service area includes anyone residing within the St. Alphonsus boundary east of Joor rd., north of Choctaw, south and west of E.B.R. parish line.
