Central Chamber of Commerce C4 Report: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

By  |

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” in South Louisiana!  The temperatures will begin to fall, the humidity will decrease, and outdoor activities will start ramping up. Kids are back in school, football season is underway, and the Central Chamber is moving into its very busy season promoting our area businesses and community.  It truly is “the most wonderful time of the year”!
During the months of September and October, the Chamber will be selling tickets for the Four Wheeler Raffle.  The Raffle helps the chamber with educational initiatives, scholarships, seminars, and promotion of our businesses and our community.  Tickets are available at the Chamber office or wherever you see the four wheeler on display.  Also during October, on the 27th, the Chamber will hold its annual Golf Scramble at The Bluffs.  Information is available at the office.
One of the highlights this busy season will be the “Miss City of Central” Beauty Pageant.  This will be the Chamber’s fourth year to hold this event and we are excited to announce that we are now part of the Miss America organization.  This means that the winners in the top two age appropriate categories will be receiving scholarships and will also be eligible to compete in the “Miss Louisiana” State Pageant.  Wouldn’t it be great if one of our young ladies went all the way to the Miss America Pageant?  The Pageant will be held on Saturday, November 15th.
Obviously using the opening phrase, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” brings to mind the Christmas season.  What would Christmas be in the City of Central without the annual Christmas Parade and Festival?  Plans are already underway preparing for the 28th annual Christmas Parade and Festival 2014.  The poll banners will begin to decorate our city during Thanksgiving week, November 24 – 28.  On Saturday, November 29th, we will have the 3rd annual Running of the Elves which will kick off the “Shop Small Business Saturday” event here in Central.  Remember that it is so important to Shop Central First!  The Lighting of the City of Central Christmas Tree will take place on Thursday evening December 4th and on Saturday morning December 6th the parade will roll down Joor Road!
So be sure to tailgate with family and friends, do some outdoor activities, attend your children’s special events, eat a lot of turkey and do your Christmas shopping in Central!  Above all, take time to enjoy “the most wonderful time of the year”!
