Central Bloomers Update
Central Bloomers Garden Club held the first meeting of 2014 on February 18 at the home of Pattie Ritchie. After catching up with some business details, the club hosted Danna Spayde from the Orchids for Seniors Study Group. Mrs. Spayde taught the group about different types of orchids including the Phalaenopsis. This particular variety is the most common in the nursery outlets here and best for growing in the home. She also discussed the proper medium and pots for planting. An east window in the home is best for placement and plants should be thoroughly watered and not watered again until nearly dry. More information on orchids can be found at www.aos.org or at www.centralbloomers.org. Central Bloomers Garden Club is looking forward to a great year. Happy Blooming.
