RWC Offering New Scholarship Opportunity

    The Republican Women of Central are investing in the education of female high school graduates from the City of Central with the first college scholarship to be awarded in May of 2014. The amount of scholarship awarded will be no less than $1,000 for 2014 and will change year to year, funded through donations to RWC for the purpose of literacy and education.
    This public announcement and invitation to apply was announced Monday evening during the MEET THE CANDIDATE FORUM broadcast on Talk 107.3FM at Central High School  hosted by the Republican Women of Central and City of Central Coalition. Over 250 people attended the forum and thousands others listened into the broadcast for a first introduction to the qualified candidates for Central's next mayor, city council members and police chief.
    Requirements and Eligibility: Applicants must be a Female students completing their high school academic requirements whose primary residence is in the City of Central. She must submit this application completed at the RWC Office, Suite 12628 Hooper Road, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA  70818 or by email request to [email protected].  Applications are Due at the RWC office must be NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, APRIL 4, 2014 at 12PM. 
    The RWC Executive Committee will make the decision on the recipient(s). The decision will be based on academics, community service and volunteerism, political awareness, and overall responses on this application. Public, private, parochial and home school students are eligible.  Finalists will be asked interview with the RWC Executive Committee before a scholarship is awarded, and will be contacted before a public announcement is made.  This scholarship can be used toward college tuition, books and/or living expenses for students enrolled in an accredited college or university. 
    A new recipient will be chosen annually. Applications must include a with copy of high school transcript, proof of voter registration (if registered) and separate sheets of paper necessary to answer questions completely and appropriately.
