Sales Tax Revenues Are Up

Sales tax revenues within the city of Central were up 6.7% in November 2013 compared to November 2012. Sales tax revenues, excluding motor vehicle sales taxes, within the city totaled $380,320.75 for the month of November 2013.
For the current fiscal year starting July 1, 2013 through November 30, 2013, sales tax revenues are up 5.16% compared to the same period in 2012. Motor vehicle sales tax revenues are also up by 5.78%.
The increase in sales taxes can be contributed to more citizens shopping locally as well as better reporting and auditing controls by the City-Parish, which collects sales taxes for all areas of the parish.
