CHS Girl’s Bowling Update

CENTRAL GIRLS BOWLING KNOCKS OFF 4-TIME STATE CHAMPION DENHAM SPRINGS

    For the first time in two years, Central Girls Bowling (1-0) not only fielded a team for competition, but recorded a huge victory too! Central defeated the Yellow Jackets 18-9 and 2220-2159 this past Wednesday (1-22-14). Every game was close in the match, but the Wildcats managed to edge out Denham in all three games to get their first victory of the season. Central won Game 1 (5-3, 737-735), Game 2 (4.5-3.5, 747-706) and Game 3 (5.5-2.5, 736-718) by a slim 61 Total Pins margin. Game 1 was led by Sarah LeDuff (Sophomore) with a 180, Game 2 by Kaylee Robinson (Sophomore) with a 169 and Game 3 by Haley Young’s (Junior) 181.

   The win was not only Central’s first win of the season, but it was also the first time Central Girls have ever defeated Denham Springs (0-1). Overall, Central was led by Young’s 503 series, followed by LeDuff’s 453, and Robinson’s 447. The Yellow Jackets were led by Kelyse Campbell (175/491).

CENTRAL GIRLS BOWLING BLOWS OUT UNIVERSITY HIGH

    Central Girls (2-0) made short work of a shorthanded UHigh (0-2) on Monday (1-27-14). The Wildcats would blow out University High by a final score of 26-1 and 2372-1372 in Total Pins. Central would win each game by a wide margin and rack up 1000 more pins in the victory. Game 1 was won 8-0 (750-373), Game 2 by 7-1 (734-468) and Game 3 by 8-0 (888-486). The 888 game is the 2nd  highest game and the 2372 series is the 3rd  highest in Central school history. Sarah LeDuff (Sophomore) led theWildcats in Games 1 and 2 with a 171 and 158. Game 3 got several contributions starting with Haley Young (Junior) with a 193, Kaylee Robinson (Sophomore) with a 190, LeDuff’s 188 and Destiny Bankston’s (Senior) 140. Overall, LeDuff led the Wildcats with a 517 series, followed by Robinson’s 468 and Young’s 459.

    This young team is proving early that they can compete with anyone in the Baton Rouge area. They will be tested this Thursday (1-30-14) at Circle Bowl at 3:20pm as the Wildcats face St Joseph Academy, generally one of Baton Rouge’s best teams year after year. Also, Central Girls will be in action this Saturday (2-1-14) in the annual LHSAA Coca Cola Tournament at All Star Lanes at 12PM.
