Central Boys Bowling (0-1) came up just a little short against Catholic High (1-0) this past Wednesday (1-22-14) losing 10-17 and snapping a 20-game regular season winning streak. Central took a quick lead in Game 1, 5-3 and Total Pins 1085 to 1023. Central’s Jacob Garretson (Junior) started the match off with a bang with a 267 and was followed by Kevin Kennedy’s (Senior) 180. Catholic would take Game 2 in close fashion with a 6-2, 1047-1002 victory and in Game 2, Dylan Ringo (Freshman) was the top Wildcat with a 217. Going into Game 3, Central trailed Catholic 7-9 but led Total Pins by 17. Unfortunately for Central, Catholic would roll one of their highest games in recent years and win the final game 5-3 and 1125-1028. Garretson’s 213 and Parker Aucoin’s (Freshman) 210 were highs from Central in the final game.

In the end, Catholic won 17-10 and won the Total Pins battle, 3195-3115. The loss not only snaps Central’s 20-game winning streak (dating back to the 2012 season), but also snaps the Wildcat’s 5-game winning streak over Catholic. Central was led by Garretson a 628 series, followed by Aucoin’s 569, Ringo’s 565 and Kennedy’s 512. The Bears were led by Shane Breaux (230/615) and Austin Bertrand (216/593).

In their second match of the season, the Central Boys (1-1) showed exactly what they’re capable of bowling. Central would destroy Madison Prep (0-1) by a final score of 26-1 and 3346-2190 in Total Pins on Monday (1-27-14). Central got off to a tremendous start in Game 1 by racking up an 8-0 and 1154-728 lead. Jacob Garretson (Junior) would lead the way with a Central record breaking game of 277 and was followed by Parker Aucoin’s (Freshman) 238. Also, the 1154 is the 3rd bowled in Central’s history. The Wildcats would pile onto the commanding lead over the next two games with a 8-0 (1126-695) and a 7-1 (1066-767) wins. Garretson’s 212, Sean Murphy’s (Senior) 206 and Dylan Ringo’s (Freshman) 205 paced the Wildcats in Game 2 and Game 3 saw Aucoin’s 222 and Johnathan Ryder’s (Sophomore) 189 as the high for the Wildcats.

The match was never in doubt and Central cruised to the 2nd 3346 series, only 12 pins behind the record set last season. Garretson’s 666 series, Aucoin’s 629, Murphy’s 551 and Ringo’s 548 were team highs. The Co-Ed Madison Prep was led by their anchor Kiera Smith (188/548). Central will try to start a new a winning streak this Thursday (1-30-14) at Circle Bowl at 3:20pm against Baton Rouge High (1-0) and then be in action this Saturday (2-1-14) in the annual LHSAA Coca Cola Tournament at All Star Lanes at 12PM.
