By  |

Voters will go to the polls on April 5th to elect the next Mayor, City Council, and Chief of Police for the City of Central.  Driving down Central's streets the many campaign signs tell most of the story, but here is the latest unofficial list of candidates competing to take office on July 1, 2014.
The Mayoral race features Central businessman and founder of Central Speaks, Dave Freneaux, running against Junior Shelton, a real estate agent, who lost his bid for the office four years ago. The Chief of Police race is currently uncontested with James Salsbury the only announced candidate.
City Council is a full slate with nine candidates having announced and a tenth considering. Announced thus far are Jason Ellis, Shane Evans, Kim Fralick, Eric Frank, Mike Gardner, Wayne Messina, Harry Rauls, John Vance, and Ralph Washington.  Incumbent Aaron Moak has not yet announced his intentions.  The top five vote-getters in the Council race will serve as Central's next Council.
Qualifying runs February 12 – 14 and the last day for new voter registration is March 5th. Several groups in Central are making plans for forums to meet candidates, so stay informed and get out and vote on April 5th.
