RWC Invites New Members

RWC LogoB    PRESS RELEASE – Republican Women of Central have shown they are "Inspired, Informed, Involved and Influential" as the second fastest growing club within Louisiana Federation of Republican Women with 38% growth in 2013, the 2nd highest growth statewide. RWC's 85 members invite all interested register Republicans ladies and men to join now for 2014.
    Members, guests and prospective members are invited to the Annual Kickoff Meeting and Installation of Officers to be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the new Mike Anderson's Seafood Restaurant, 14140 Greenwell Springs Road, in Central. Doors open for socializing at 5:45p.m. and meeting begin at 6:30p.m. RSVP are encouraged, by emailing [email protected] or by calling (225) 333-0018.
    State Senator Elbert Lee Guillory (R) of District 24, will be the guest speaker. He has become an outspoken leader in the conservative Christian movement, reaching out to educate voters, especially minorities on the pitfalls of current national policies, has been interviewed on national news programs including Fox News, spoken at C-PAC, and recently announced his candidacy to run for Lieutenant Governor in 2015 on December 11th. 
    Senator Guillory has received national recognition with over a million YouTube hits on his videos. Guillory announced his party affiliation switch to Republican in May of this year, making him the only seated black senator in history to change political parties during his term. Guillory’s conservative views and voting record has gained him popularity with both urban and small town voters.     Membership in RWC is open to all registered Republicans and due are $35 for women, $25 for men and associate members, and includes membership into the National Federation of Republican Women and state of Louisiana Federation of Republican Women. RWC is a chartered club within the nation's largest women's political organization with over 70,000 active members, 2,400 in Louisiana which ranks 6th nationally for membership.
    Officers elected and serving for 2014 are President Betsy Otken Barnes, First Vice President Jennifer Harrison Starns, Second Vice President June Temple Dupuy, Treasurer Judy Keigley, Corresponding Secretary Mari Presedo, Recording Secretary Kim Ellis and Immediate Past President Debbie White Dougherty. 
    Monthly meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at Central area restaurants with the exception of the "Meet the Candidates" Forum being held February 17th at Central High School Auditorium and the fashion show fundraiser to be held in April. Community service and political activism are the main objectives of projects during the year and activities include Cooking In Central, the Dictionary Project providing over 500 dictionaries to all 3rd graders in the City of Central, volunteer support and fundraising for Education & Literacy and college scholarship fund, Blue Star Moms and Women Veterans of Louisiana, and Memorial Day and Veterans Day tributes in the City of Central.
