To All Contractors/Homeowners:
Please be advised that the following code section of the 2012 International Residential Code requires that an elevation of any and all new construction be supplied to the building department prior to vertical construction.
Section R109.1.3 of the Residential Codes states: For construction in areas prone to flooding as established by Table R301.2 (1), upon placement of the lowest floor, including basement, and prior to further vertical construction, the building official shall require submission of documentation, prepared and sealed by a registered design professional, of the elevation of the lowest floor, including basement, required in Section R322.
This requirement will go into effect beginning Monday, January 20, 2014. All projects submitted for permit on or after this date must meet this requirement.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our office.
Respectfully,
Scott Price, CBO, Building Official City of Central
