Lucas Byland & Matthew Terrio Receive Eagle Award

    We are very pleased to announce the promotion of two young men who have attained the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. Both young men are members of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 13 in the City of Central, Louisiana. The recipients of the Eagle Award were honored at an Eagle Court of Honor on November 15th at the fellowship hall at BUMC. Troop 13 is chartered by Blackwater United Methodist Church and has held that charter continuously for (73) Years.  
    Lucas Byland is a High School Senior attending Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy. He is very active in his community and attends Zachary United Methodist Church.  Lucas has a great love of the outdoors and is very passionate about Hiking, Canoeing, Camping and Backpacking.  Lucas designed and built a stone masonry fire pit at Blackwater United Methodist Church for his Eagle Project which is part of a previous project that incorporates a flag memorial area. This Memorial can be used by the community to retire American Flags. 
    Matthew Terrio Is a senior at Central High School. He is very active in the Central community and attends Christ the King Catholic Church. Matthew has a great love of sports and is a member of the Central HS football team and is also a founding member of the CHS Lacrosse Team.  Matthew designed and installed the graphic depiction of the Central HS Wildcat emblem on the South Stadium seats of the CHS Football Stadium. The wildcat can be easily viewed from Hooper Road looking south towards the stadium. 
    Lucas and Matthew both attended the 100 Year Anniversary of Scouting 2010, USA at Fort AP Hill, Va. National Scout Jamboree.  They also accomplished a 10 Day 135 mile Backpacking trip at Philmont Scout Reservation in Cimarron, New Mexico.  
    We congratulate both Matthew and Lucas in attaining the highest award given to a Boy Scout. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to their endeavors as they continue down their selected paths as citizens and leaders.
