In Memoriam: Mitchell Edward Bennett, “Sonny”
Sonny died at 5:30 AM, Monday, December 2, 2013, at his residence in Greenwell Springs. He was 73 years of age and a native of Ruleville, Mississippi. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol Schlitz Mitchell; son Nathan Mitchell, his wife Vanessa, and grandson Nathan; brother Joseph “Murray” Mitchell and his wife Iris; brother Larry Mitchell and his wife Annette; sister Marian Robillard; and sister Janet Messina and her husband Wayne. Sonny was preceded in death by parents Marion and Margaret Mitchell, and brother-in-law, Clyde Robillard. Religious services were conducted by Father Thomas Duhe. Pallbearers were Todd Messina, Michael Manzullo, Paul Mitchell, Brian Holley, Mark Watts and Blackie Bell. Sonny was a faithful Eucharistic Minister of St. Alphonsus Church. He was Past President of the Central Lions Club, and a proud “Man of Manresa”. Remember Sonny and smile.
