First and foremost the CHS cheerleaders would like to thank everyone who came out to support Central High through an incredible football season.  Their Co Captain, Bailey Martin stated, “Football isn’t just something we look forward too, it’s something we live for and love. This season was something everyone will never forget. I am so glad we were all a part of it and I love my Central family. I wouldn’t want it any other way.” However, with the football season coming to a close, the CHS Cheerleaders are now turning their attention to the CHS Basketball teams. Captain, Alicen Lieux, says, “I hope we can pack the gym as much as we pack our stadium on Friday nights. We are wishing our basketball team the best of luck for their season and can’t wait to see the community support these athletes as well.”
What most of the community doesn’t know is that the Wildcat Cheerleaders are involved in a lot more than standing on the sideline cheering on the athletic teams. These ladies continue to raise school spirit by serving meals and snacks to the teams, making signs, decorating the halls before the games, and preparing pep rallies. All this is done while at the same time the cheerleaders are involved in multiple weekly practices because they are right in the midst of their competition season. They would also like to thank each and every person who participated in any of their fundraisers this year from the Pulled Pork Sandwich Meals, 50/50’s at home football games, Raising Cane’s Night, and our $1000 Raffle, as all this money has helped these athletes compete this year.
November 17th, the cheerleaders set out to Live Oak High School and competed in the UCA Regionals competition where they competed in two divisions. Being that Central has not had a competitive cheer squad in years these ladies took it upon themselves to show what Central can be made of and did just that. These athletes took 2nd Place for their routine and came out 6th place out of 15 teams in the Game Day division. They will continue to prepare and focus to create school spirit while still training to become top notch for the competition at the National High School Cheerleading Championship being held in Disney World February 8th and 9th.  Thank you for all the communities support and GEAUX WILDCATS!!!
