School Tax Passes

By  |

Last Saturday, the proposed tax for the Central Community School System passed with 58.69% of the vote, 1891 “yes” votes to 1331 “no.”  With this vote, the current 23.65 mill property tax rate will remain unchanged for 8 years then decrease and end in 2034.  The tax will fund a $13,100,000 bond to go toward a freshman academy, parking lot repairs at Central High School, baseball and softball field lighting at Central High School, technology upgrades, and demolition, asbestos abatement, and upgrades at the old Central Middle School site.  There was approximately a 15.3% voter turnout for this election.
