Central Police Department Now Radar Certified

By  |

City of Central Police Chief Doug Browning was excited to announce that all of the officers in the CPD are now radar certified.  This means they have taken all of the necessary instruction and passed a very strict test.  The instruction involved not just training on the apparatus but training the mind and eye to work together to be able to estimate the speed of an oncoming vehicle, including while in a vehicle in motion.  This is excellent news for Central.  "We now have the means to prosecute violators," Chief Browning stated. "We worked it out with the D.A.'s office.  We've already had our first set of cases go through."
The next goal for the CPD is to become laser radar certified.  The laser apparatus allows officers to check the speed on specific cars even if they are among a group of vehicles.  "It works with Doppler technology.  We have 1 laser unit and 3 car mounted units in the department," Chief shared.  This certification should be complete within the next 2 weeks.  Chief Browning was firm when he stated decisively, "Everyone has to understand: Do Not Speed!"
