The new Middle and Intermediate School Complex on Sullivan Road for the Central Community School System is all but complete.  Administrators have moved in under a temporary occupancy permit and Sullivan Road will be closed beginning Monday to construct the front driveway entrances.  The facility is designed to accommodate up to 2,400 students and will open with a population of over 1,800 3rd through 8th graders in August.
In 2009 the voters of Central approved property taxes to fund the construction of the new Middle and Intermediate Schools and to renovate three existing Central school buildings.  The contractors will work through punch lists and complete work over the next month in preparation for the arrival of the students this fall.
During the next six-plus weeks the Sullivan and Gurney Road intersection will be closed while a traffic circle is constructed which will also be the southern entrance to the school facility.  Two more Sullivan Road entrances are being constructed on Sullivan Road with turn lanes and a fourth entrance has already been opened off of Devall Road.  From now until mid-August the Devall entrance will be the only way to access the property.
