Please Don’t Litter!

By  |

These photos were taken at a cul-de-sac in Central Woods with no houses on it.  It has become a dumping ground for people’s garbage, with old carpets, furniture, tires, and other random objects strewn about.  This problem is not limited to any one area of Central- the sides of our roads are littered with countless cigarette butts, beer cans, and fast food garbage, and lots of larger items are left in unoccupied lots.

Please help to keep our city beautiful.  When you are in a car, hold onto your trash until you can get out and put it in a trash receptacle.  If you have large items to throw away, they will be picked up once a week if you put them at the front of your driveway in a pile next to your garbage can.  If you are in need of a garbage can or a recycling bin, please call 3-1-1.  You can even request an additional garbage can for a one-time fee of $60.

An important, but often overlooked, step in trash disposal is the use of bags in your garbage can.  All small trash should be thrown away in a garbage bag, then placed in your garbage can. Using trash bags and tying the tops will keep stray trash from flying out of garbage trucks onto the sides of the road, which is a big contributor to our litter problem.
