Central Intermediate School (CIS) is showing how they can be “Bucket Fillers” by helping those in need.  They are doing that with a shoe drive for children in Nicaragua.  The project was presented to Mrs. Taylor, principal of CIS, by Ms. Lee, a fourth grade teacher.  Ms. Lee, a member of the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, learned of the project at her education sorority meeting and thought CIS could help.  Mrs. Taylor approved the project, and the CIS Junior Beta Club proudly took on the responsibility as the project’s sponsor.  The Jr. Beta Club created a slide for CIS’s daily slide show to advertise the project.  They also set up boxes in the gym to collect all types of new and used shoes.
CIS will continue to collect shoes until the end of the school year.  The shoes will then be picked up by the First Baptist Church of Zachary and sent to Nicaragua in June with a group of missionaries.  The children and faculty of CIS love helping others and are always looking for a way to show that Central is a “Community that Cares!”
