On Wednesday, April 11, 2012 Chaneyville and Central Fire Departments were dispatched to 9372 Arleen Ave, Zachary La. at 12:33 pm for a mobile home fire.  When firefighters arrived they found approximately half of the home engulfed in flames.  Firefighters initiated an interior attack on the fire and quickly controlled the blaze; however, extensive damage occurred to most of the structure and it's contents. The home is owned by Henry Myers, who was not at home at the time of the fire.  While there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians, two small dogs owned by Mr. Myers perished in the blaze.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation; however foul play is not suspected.  Central Firefighter Michael Kelly narrowly escaped injury during interior fire attack when the floor of the mobile home collapsed plunging him into an area that was engulfed in flames.  Protective fire gear worn by Firefighter Kelly provided protection from the flames and he was quickly pulled to safety by other firefighters.

Zachary and Baker Fire Departments provided assistance as well.
