Slow Food Farm Tour and Dinner in the Field
Come join Slow Food for a celebration of local food, farmers, and community! This fundraising event supports our ‘buy local’ campaign and other chapter activities and is sure to tempt your taste buds! Tickets go on sale February 1st 2012.
Slow Food is sponsoring the 2nd annual Dinner in the Field and the Baton Rouge Area Farm Tour on March 18th, 2012. The farm tour will be held from 11 am to 5 pm featuring 5 farms in the north Baton Rouge area. Participating farms this year are: Port Hudson Organics, Yard Bird Farms, Feliciana's Best Creamery, McKowen Farm, and Oakland Organic.
Farm tour participants are invited to attend the Social Hour which will be held from 5 to 6 pm at Oakland Plantation (6165 Highway 963 Gurley, Louisiana, 70730) in Gurley, Louisiana. The Dinner in the Field is a fundraising event for Slow Food as well as a showcase of local farms and food, culinary arts and food traditions. The dinner will feature locally grown foods selected and prepared by local celebrity chefs. The chefs include: Eric Arceneaux of City Club; Jason and Caryn Roland of Heirloom Cuisine; Jaime Hernandez of Juban’s; Maureen Joyce of MJ’s Café; Luca Di Martino of Latte E Miele, and Fred Heurtin and Bryan Joubert. A four course dinner will begin at 6 pm at Oakland Plantation. Seating is extremely limited so purchase your ticket in advance at slowfoodbr.org. Tickets are $ 125 per person.
