CHS Softball Dominates at Tournament, Struggles Against St. Joseph

    The Lady Wildcats played very well in the recent West Feliciana Tournament, winning all three of their games by 10 or more.  Central defeated Livonia 10-0 in their February 24th matchup, with pitcher Brittney McCarty throwing a complete game shutout with 8 strikeouts and only 3 hits.  Kaylan Hunt led the Wildcats at bat with her 3 hits including a double and 5 RBI’s.
    Central was still going strong in their victory over Tara the next day, ending the game with an impressive score of 17-0.  Pitcher Maddie Devall threw all five innings with only 1 hit and 7 strikeouts, resulting in a shutout.  Brittney McCarty was 2 for 2 at bat with 2 runs scored, 3 stolen bases, and 2 RBI’s.  Kaylee Dinot scored 2 runs, stole 2 bases, and had 1 RBI.  Maranda Schmidt stole 3 bases, and Alexis Wascom did well at the plate with 3 runs scored and three RBI’s.
    In their third game of the tournament, Central was again victorious, this time 15-1 over LaGrange.  Maddie Devall pitched, throwing 10 strikeouts.  She was also successful at bat, going 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI’s, and 4 stolen bases.  Chelsea David scored 3 runs and had 2 stolen bases and an RBI.  Kaitlyn Picou scored 2 runs, stole 4 bases, and hit 3 RBI’s.
    On February 28, Central faced St. Joseph at Patriot Park in Central.  Central lost a tough 10-0 game.  Brittney McCarty threw for 7 hits and 3 strikeouts.  Central’s overall record now stands at 5-1.
    Catch the Wildcats at home today at 4 PM against Zachary.  They also play this weekend in the St. Amant Tournament at Gore Park.
