On Thursday (2-9-12), Central High Varsity Bowling (2-4) enjoyed their easiest match of the season, defeating Baton Rouge High (1-4) 25-2 and 2529-1615 in Total Pins.  The Wildcats were on cruise control the entire match with a very balanced attack, and Central’s 1-2 Punch of Bryan Waites (Junior) and Jacob Garretson (Freshman) have found two improved arms in Kevin Kennedy (Sophomore) and Sean Murphy (Sophomore).

Central ended the match early by completely dominating Games 1 & 2.  When the dust settled after 2 games, the Wildcats had swept all the points and led the match 16-0 and Total Pins by over 600 pins.  In fact, the only exciting point to be had was from the #1 position in the line-up.  Jonathan Coleman (Freshman) had to mark in the 10th and get 8 pins in Game 2 to win his match and that’s exactly what he did, winning his match by 1 pin!  Game 3 wasn’t swept by Central, but they put together one of their best team games of the season.  In the final game, Waites led the Wildcats with a 242 game and Garretson followed with a 223.  Central would finish the match by beating Baton Rouge High by over 900 pins.

Before the match began, Coach Gardner and Coach Godley announced that Bryan Waites is this year’s Team Captain.  Right on cue, Waites bowled the match like a Captain and led the Wildcats in series (564) and high game (242).  Garretson bowled a 545 series with a 223.  Central’s two most improved arms continued to bowl above average.  Murphy bowled 51 pins over average and Kennedy topped that by bowling 65 pins over average.  Central’s next match is Thursday (2-16-12) at All Star Lanes (3:20pm) against Denham Springs (4-1), whom Central has never defeated in a match 6 on 6 (Central defeated Denham by forfeit in last year’s state playoffs).  Denham escaped with a 17-10 victory over Central earlier this season and Central is determined to increase their winning streak to 3.
