Last Saturday, the City of Central Kiwanis Club held its first annual Get Fit Central event.  Participants gathered from across the region to participate in a 1 mile fun run, student races and competition relays.  Other activities included child fingerprinting by representatives from the EBR Clerk of Court, health monitoring by doctors from Lane Memorial Hospital, and safety demonstrations by the Central Fire Department.  The Club recognized Madilyn Woosley, Hanna Hargrave and Alex Hargrave as the top student fundraisers for the event.  Also recognized were Ms. Sandy Davis, principal of Tanglewood Elementary, the school that raised the most money, as well as Ms. Fugarino (Tanglewood) and Ms. Sheldon (Bellingrath), whose classes were the top fundraisers.  Winners of the morning’s Fun Run races were:

Men – Clint Gayle

Women – Nancy Ashford

High School Men – Jacob Hector

High School Women — Kaleigh Winter

Those attending the event include all ages from pre-school to college age, and from toddlers to grandparents.  All proceeds from the morning’s events will be used to benefit Central Community Schools.
