PRESS RELEASE
CENTRAL HS FOOTBALL RADIO/ IN
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 8/30/10
Central HS Football is on the air in 2010! For the first time ever, Central HS Football games will be broadcasted on the radio and the Internet. For the past 3 years, Wildcats games were heard on the Internet. This year, all 10 regular season games and playoff games will be carried on WPFC, 1550AM, Baton Rouge and on the Internet at SportsGumbo.net. Broadcasts will start at 6pm on Friday nights. The first broadcast will air on Friday, September 3, when the Wildcats open up their season at Port Allen HS. Central HS Football broadcasts are a Jon Fine Sports Production.
Central HS becomes the 4th Baton Rouge area high school to have its football games professionally broadcast on the radio/Internet, joining Catholic HS, Denham Springs HS and Episcopal HS. Like Central, Episcopal will have its games on the radio for the first time in 2010.
The broadcast team for CHS football is Josh Ward on play-by-play, Scott Osborne on color, with Victoria Eskola as the sideline reporter. Ward, a former high school basketball coach, returns for his third year as the voice of the Wildcats. Osborne, also in his second year as color commentator for Central, is an assistant basketball coach and teacher at Central. Eskola, a teacher and coach at CHS, will be in her second year manning the sidelines on Wildcats broadcasts.
In addition to producing Central HS Football broadcasts, Jon Fine Sports Productions also produces The Sid Edwards Show. Co-hosted by City of Central Athletics Director Sid Edwards and Central HS assistant football coach Steve Johnson, The Sid Edwards Show broadcasts live from Fox’s Pizza Den, Magnolia Bridge Road, in Central. The program can be heard Thursday nights, 5pm-6pm, on WPFC, 1550AM, Baton Rouge and on the Internet at SportsGumbo.net. The Sid Edwards Show not only covers Central HS athletics, but also devotes time each week to Central HS academics. Several Central public figures—both sports related and non-sports related—have appeared on the program.
Other high school programming produced by Jon Fine Sports Productions includes Denham Springs HS Football radio/Internet broadcasts, Episcopal HS radio/Internet broadcasts, The Dru Nettles Show and Plaquemine Sports Weekly. Fine has been a Baton Rouge sports talk radio host/producer since 1991. He presently hosts and produces Monday Morning Quarterback. All of these programs can be heard on a variety of radio stations in the greater Baton Rouge area. They can also all be heard on the Internet at SportsGumbo.net.
The 2010 Central HS Football radio/Internet broadcasts include a 60 minute pre-game show, “The Cajun Cypress Wildcats Warmup”, which features an extensive interview with Wildcats coach Doug Dotson. At half-time, “The Central Title and Closing Half-Time Report” includes an interview with a prominent Central personality. Following the game, tune in to “Central Plumbing Wildcat Wrapup”, which includes the “Chase Health Care Player of The Game”.
When the Wildcats score, you can hear the specifics on the “Central Automotive and Tire Wildcats Scoring Drive”. Half-time and post-game stats are brought to you by Central Super Suds Car Wash and AA Mini Storage. And, interviews with Coach Dotson are sponsored by Sullivan Hardware.
