$1,000 Charity Treasure Hunt Begins Friday

The First Annual CentralSpeaks.com Charity Treasure Hunt sponsored by the Central Chamber of Commerce is beginning this Friday, July 23rd.  There will be a final grand prize worth $1,000 at the end of the four-week hunt.  Clues will be given each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, beginning this Friday.  24 businesses in the Central area are participating in the hunt.  You will have the option of going to one of 2 businesses each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to pick up your clue.  When you retrieve a clue from a business, you will have the option of making a donation to the Central Relay for Life.  This is a major annual fundraiser here in Central for the American Cancer Society.  Businesses will not be asked to request donations from anyone, and you are not required to make any donations in exchange for clues.  We simply ask that you donate as you are able to this cause in exchange for your clues.  The suggested donation is $2 per clue, but you may donate any amount.  There will be a donation container where you pick up your clue.  All clue donations will be given to Relay for Life for cancer research and patient support.  CentralSpeaks.com and the Central Chamber of Commerce will not keep any of the contributions, as the focus of the treasure hunt is to raise money for charity.

There is an actual “treasure” to be found at the end of the Treasure Hunt.  Only one prize will be awarded and only one person may find it, though you may work together with any number of people during the hunt, if you so choose.  The 24 participating businesses are each donating $40 cash and a prize worth at least $25.  All 24 prizes, totaling $600 or more in worth, plus $400 in cash, will become the prize at the end of the hunt.  The remaining money contributed by these businesses will be donated to Relay for Life.

Clues will be given to each business on the day that they are able to be picked up by the community.  No clues will be given early, so no unfair advantage may be gained.  You must visit one of the two featured businesses during business hours each day to pick up your clue.  You may choose which of the two businesses you visit, as each will be given the same clue.  You must solve each clue in order to solve the puzzle and find the treasure, as new clues will reference past ones.  You may pick up clues you missed if you join the hunt late or if you miss a day.  Businesses will keep their leftover clues for this purpose. There will be a total of 12 clues given over a period of 4 weeks.  The business locations for the first 6 clues, along with the dates they will be available, are as follows:

Friday, July 23: Ross Tire & Service, Walton J. Barnes II Attorney

Monday, July 26: People’s Bank, Rogers Regional Eye Center

Wednesday, July 28: PriceCo Supply, Wireless Unlimited/AT&T

Friday, July 30: Computer Evolutions, NAPA Auto Parts

Monday, August 1: Hunt’s Tire & Car Care, CH2M Hill
