3 CHS Students Win Public Works Scholarships

By  |

Central High students Garrett Hull, Casey Brown, and Samuel Ayers were awarded American Public Works Association scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each at the City-Parish Metro Council meeting last Wednesday, May 12, 2010 by Mayor Kip Holden.   The local chapter of the APWA awards five scholarships each year to students in East Baton Rouge public high schools, including Baker, Zachary, and Central.  Three out of the five students awarded scholarships this year came from Central High.  Students may use the money towards anything related to college expenses.  These students filled out an application and wrote a small essay on “What Public Works means to me”.  Special thanks to the Guidance Dept. at Central High for making sure the seniors were informed of this opportunity.
