By  |

Central Intermediate School 5th graders graduated from the D.A.R.E. program last Friday, May 7th.  The students were taught ways to resist drugs and alcohol by Sgt. Carr over a 12-week period.  This is Sgt. Carr's second year to lead this program at CIS.  At the graduation, students performed skits that they had created themselves to act out methods to use in saying "No" to drugs and alcohol.  They have also written essays about their experience in D.A.R.E. and what they have learned.  Essay winners got to read their work to their peers and parents at the ceremony.  Winners were Kelsie Bourgeois (1st place), Emily Henagan (2nd), Sarah Wells (3rd), and Chase Juneau (4th).  All of the students received graduation certificates commemorating their decision to stay drug-free.
