Intro to Free Internet Resources and Safety

An Introduction to Free Information Resources and Internet Safety: The Central Community School System will present an evening of Internet Safety and Parent Tools on Thursday, April 8, at 7:00 p.m. in the CHS Library for parents and community members. Parents and care givers will explore the Parent Command Center in the CCSS student information system which provides grade, homework assignment, and upcoming lesson information to monitor student progress. Discover how Odyssey Learning provides extra class instruction at home and how Blackboard keeps students on track with their classes, notes, and assignments. Experience two resources, LAePortal and WorkKeys, which provide students and parents career and college information and practical skills tutorials needed in today’s workforce, respectively. Learn tips to teach children and teens safe online behavior as they explore the Internet and the collaborative capabilities of Web 2.0 tools. Topics covered in this course are appropriate for parents of students in grades K-12.
