CMS Football Wins Again

By  |

The Central Middle Football team won another very close game on Tuesday night. The Wildcats traveled to Jackson to take on the Indian Chiefs. On the second play of the game, the quarterback of the Chiefs threw a perfect 45-yard strike to an open receiver for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion was good and the Chiefs took a quick opening lead 8-0. Sloppy field conditions held both teams in check until the Wildcats’ offense used its muscle to score on a rushing touchdown from 8 yards out with 2 minutes to go before half. The muddy field forced both teams to keep the ball on the ground for much of the second half. With 1:30 left in the game and still trailing 8-6, the Wildcat offense managed to run the ball around the left end and scored from 32 yards out. The 2-point conversion failed and the Wildcats lead for the first time in the ballgame 12-8. In a repeat of last week, the Wildcat defense came alive and recovered a fumble on the Cheifs’ 20 yard line. The Wildcat offense lined up in the Victory formation and time ran out as the Wildcats improved to 2-0 on the season. They face Livonia in Wildcat Stadium next Tuesday, September 22 at 6:00pm.
