Kiwanis Donating Defibrillators to Schools

By  |

The City of Central Kiwanis Club has been collecting funds to purchase heart defibrillators for local schools. Our Kiwanis Club has already donated 2 defibrillators to schools and are working to be able to donate more. This is a cause that can save lives, and already has. A few days ago in Memphis, a firefighter was picking his kids up from school when he had a heart attack. There was a nurse present who used a Kiwanis-donated defibrillator to save the man’s life. About 95% of people who suffer a sudden cardiac arrest do not survive long enough to make it to a hospital. Having these defibrillators nearby is a big step toward improving this statistic. Thank you Kiwanis for all that you are doing for our community.
