Storm Debris Update as of October 14th

By  |

Storm debris cleanup is nearing an end.  The contractor has nearly completed the second and final pass of all streets and completed several areas for C&D pickup.   Once the crews clear an area, they will not return.  A list of remaining areas is listed below for woody waste/tree debris removal.  It is anticipated that these areas will be cleared by Tuesday, Oct. 14.   Any debris placed out by the street after the crews have cleared an area will become the responsibility of the property owner to remove.

Construction & Demolition (C&D) material such as household items, bags of leaves, fences, etc. will be picked up by a separate truck.  The pickup of C&D material started last week.  Areas picked up and completed for C&D are:  Winchester, Comite Hills, Comite Hills West, Hampton Village, and Morgan Place subdivisions.  Other areas of C&D pickup should be completed this week.

To date, over 120,000 cubic yards of debris has been picked up.

LIST OF AREAS REMAINING ON THE SECOND AND FINAL PASS FOR TREE/WOODY WASTE REMOVAL:
·        small portion of Frenchtown Rd (South of Planchet Rd)
·         Bon Dickey
·         Huntley Place
·         Sparkle Dr / Leanne Dr
·         Dundee Dr
·         S. Blackwater Rd
·         Magnolia Bend

CREWS WILL ATTEMPT TO COMPLETE THE ABOVE AREAS BY TUESDAY, OCT. 14.  ANY DEBRIS PLACED OUT  AFTERWARDS WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PROPERTY OWNER TO REMOVE.

If anyone has small debris or leaves, you may place them in your regular garbage container for pickup.  Please make sure that the lid of your container is closed.  Allied will not pick up containers in which the lid is open.

Please do not stack debris directly next to the street.   Please leave at least 3 feet from the edge of the pavement so that there are no traffic hazards created.  Do not place materials near water meters or mailboxes or under power lines.

Additionally, Allied Waste would like to notify all residents of recent changes to their garbage collection contract with the Parish.  Any debris that is put out now must conform to the EBR contract specifications which means they will not pick up contractor waste (including construction contractors, remodelers and tree services); all debris must be placed in the right-of-way; nothing over 1,000 pounds will be picked up; and small items should be containerized (leaves, etc).  No waste will be picked up from in front of commercial establishments.   Allied is ready to assume normal trash collection again starting Saturday, October 18 for regular household debris.
