Give Back to Our Community

By  |

Central is developing into a wonderful, caring community, and a huge part of that has been thanks to the giving attitude of our city. There are a few opportunities coming up to give a little extra to those in need. This weekend, October 11th through 12th, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on the corner of Greenwell Springs and Frenchtown Road is holding their monthly food pantry collection weekend. All non-perishable food items and toiletries are needed, and the collection barrels can be found in the Gathering Space at the church. Journey Church is also currently having their Thanksgiving Feast Outreach food drive. You can fill a bag with food itmes to help families in our area enjoy holiday meals. The drive lasts through October 26th, and lists of items and bags can be found at the information desk at Journey Church at 17407 Greenwell Springs Road.

Also coming up are two blood drives. These drives represent a huge opportunity to help save the lives of those around us at very little cost to ourselves. Journey Church is hosting a blood drive on October 19th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church. Participants must be at least 17 years old and will be given free t-shirts and blend coupons for participating. First Baptist Church of Central is holding their blood drive at the church at 14512 Greenwell Springs Road on October 25th from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Call the church office at 261-8903 with any questions. These blood drives and food drives are simple ways to give, so let’s step forward as a community to show we care.
