Four Injured in Accident on Denham Road

By  |

Three of the four young people injured in an accident Tuesday morning were students at Central Private. Few details are available but the most seriously injured is likely Adam Stafford, who underwent surgery at OLOL. He shows signs of recovery and his progress is offered by his family online at www.caringbridge.org/visit/adamstafford/journal. The website, which is updated regularly by the family, reports that Adam is relying less on a ventilator and has squeezed the hand of the pastor.  Hailey and Loyd Ussery have a Caring Bridge site, as well at  www.caringbridge.org/visit/haileyandloydussery. There are also two Facebook pages set up: "Prayng for Hailey, Loyd, and Adam" and "Praying for Adam Stafford, Hailey & Loyd Ussery !!!"

The other CP students were the driver, 17 year old Hailey Ussery, who suffered broken ankles and a back injury, and her 14 year old brother, Loyd, who suffered a compoung leg fracture. The driver of the other car is reported to be 22 year old Brittany Lamana Michelli, who suffered abdominal injuries and is in critical condition. The staff of CentralSpeaks.com, and certainly the entire City of Central, prays for healing for all those involved.

The police report from the EBR Sheriff's Office is as follows:

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle crash at approximately 7:25 this morning at 13413 Denham Road in which two vehicles collided head on. Deputies believe the vehicle traveling westbound on Denham, driven by a 17-year-old girl, may have crossed the center line of the road and hit the other vehicle, traveling eastbound, driven by a 22-year-old woman. Two boys, both 14, were passengers in the vehicle driven by the 17-year-old girl. Deputies believe neither boys were wearing seatbelt restraints. The 22-year-old woman was alone in her vehicle.
All four were transported to the hospital. The boy seated in the front seat of the first vehicle and the 22-year-old driver of the second vehicle were transported with life-threatening injuries.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident. Investigation is pending.

praying for adam stafford, hailey & loyd ussery !!!
