CENTRAL’S BEST KEPT SECRET
The gourmet’s dream come true: a little convenience store/deli on a winding 2 lane country road with some of the best steak in town and only the locals know about it. Attention gourmets! We have that right here in Central! DeRab’s Grocery and Market just celebrated its 1st year anniversary under the new ownership of Darrell and Linda Rabalais. The old Cortez Grocery Store, DeRab’s is located on Frenchtown Road and features a full line Grocery Store with beer, wine, liquor and cigarettes, plus a Meat Market with custom cut select steaks and ground beef chopped on the premises. The home made smoked pork sausage, tasso, breakfast pan sausage and beef jerky are delicious! Fresh cracklin’s, Italian sausage, green onion stuffed boneless pork chops, and shrimp stuffed chicken breast are among the many offerings. If you want a custom cut, they’re glad to oblige! DeRab’s also processes deer meat, so hunters take note!
The deli serves a full breakfast from 7-10 a.m, then goes into lunch from 11-2p.m. Featured are plate lunches, home made hamburgers, po-boys, and cold cut sandwiches. You can phone in ahead to pick up! Friday’s featured lunch is the seafood plate with fried catfish, shrimp and fries. Friday night offers the Steak Special – 16 oz rib-eye, baked potato, salad and roll for only $13.99. Melt in your mouth good. Take out or dine in! Come on in and sample Central’s best kept secret!
