Central Private Rebels Demolish the Patriots

    For the second week in a row the Central Private Rebels were able to turn in a dominating performance and take a huge victory, this time over the Baton Rouge Patriots.  The 57-6 victory gave the Rebels a combined 107-6 margin the last two weeks.

    With the University of Memphis signee Stevie Douglas leading the Patriots it was imperative that the Rebels keep him off the field as much as possible.  The Rebel offense would do just that with a ball control system that led to the first CP  score of the night: a one yard run by Ryan Bowman and a 2 pt conversion by Trevor Shepherd. The Rebels ran 7 minutes off of the clock on the drive which included 2 Luke Fryoux passes  to Taylor Fletcher. 

    The Rebels scored again with 5:55 remaining in the second quarter as Shepherd scooted 13 yards into the end zone and Bowman added the 2-pt conversion for a 16-0  CPS lead.

    Shepherd would add a 2 yard run into the end zone following a Seth Stevens interception that he returned 41 yards.  Stevens said he had missed it in other games where he dropped interceptions but he made the play today because he kept his eye on the ball.  The two point conversion was good when Fryoux once again found his big tight end over the middle and the Rebels led 24-0 at the half. 

    The third quarter began with the Rebels fourth scoring drive on the night which culminated with Fryoux finding his favorite target Fletcher for a 12 yard score.  This time the Rebel kick was wide left.  The Patriots were able to put a dent in the scoring column when Douglas hit Newman on a 5-yard scoring strike.  The extra point was missed and CP had a 30-6 lead.  Bowman would add 3 straight touchdowns for the Rebels on runs of 1, and 7 yards and an interception return of 31 yards.  Troy Lowe would convert on 2 of the 3 extra points. Lowe added a touchdown of his own on a 2 yard blast through the middle of the Rebel line led by Rhett Seguin, Daniel Holloway, and Brennan West.  The carry also gave Lowe 101 rushing yards on the night for the first time in his high school career.  Fletcher kicked the ball through the uprights for the final score of the CP 57-6 victory.

    After the ball game coach Mike Longmire expressed his happiness with his defense.  He said, ”We were able to keep pressure on the defense all night long and Conrad, Cody Overstreet and LeBlanc were able to register sacks.”  The offense continues to improve.  Fryoux read the defense well and found a big target in Fletcher.  We need to continue to eliminate mistakes.”  Next week is a big ball game for the Rebels as they travel to Oak Forest.  Coach Longmire said the Rebels can expect their most physical game of the year.
