CHS Senior Breanna Mann Awarded Beta Scholarship

The National Beta Club announced last week that Breanna Mann has been named a Beta Scholar which entitles her to a scholarship award of $1000.
Breanna, a senior at Central High School, competed against more than 1000 candidates nationwide for this honor. Two hundred seventeen scholarship recipients were chosen. She plans to attend Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana to pursue a degree in nursing. She was recommended for this award by the local Beta Club sponsor, Ms. Dara deLeon and high school principal, Mr. Bob Wales.
"This outstanding young person represents the true spirit of National Beta, having excelled not only academically, but in leadership and service to school and community as well," said Mr. Ken Cline, executive director of the National Beta Club.
Breanna is the daughter of Jeffrey and Kimberly Mann. Her grandparents are Cecil and Connie Chapman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Michael and Mae Milton of Mathews, North Carolina, and Dalton and Helen Mann of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
To date, Breanna has earned in excess of 40,000 scholarship dollars. Breanna is the Central High School Beta Club Co- President, and is also a member of the French Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Robotics Team. She is a member of the CHS "Kittens" dance team ,an acedemic letterman for the 2007, 2008, and 2009 school years, and was voted "Most Likely to Suceed" by the CHS class of 2010. Away from school, Breanna has served as a planner and counselor for "The Happening", a youth event sponsored by the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship, Junior Volunteer for Woman's Hospitol, and Junior Docent for the Rural Life Museum.
When asked how they felt about Brianna's accomplishment her father said," She is a very hard worker, and has always been inspired to help others. Her junior and senior years, especially, have been a whirlwind with all of the things in which she has become involved. We are extremely proud of her, not only because of her academic accomplishments, but also because of the active role she has taken in serving others. From our point of view she is, truly, a blessing."
