School Board Selects Architects for New Schools

By  |

The Central Community School Board met on Tuesday night to make the final architect selection for the upcoming project to build new elementary and middle schools for Central. The decision-making process was thorough and well-researched. Beginning in early August, 17 architecture firms submitted applications to be considered for the job. A committe led by John Simmons narrowed the candidates down to 6 possibilities. In mid-September, interviews led by this committee brought the number of candidates down to three. Members of the school board then made trips to schools in Texas, Kansas, and Baton Rouge, where these firms had done previous projects, to see examples of their work. On September 21, the school board watched presentations made by each of the well-qualified remaining firms, and another round of interviews followed. The school board met in private session Tuesday night just before their public meeting to discuss their final decision.
At the public meeting, the school board put the matter to a vote. In 5-1 and 6-1 votes, the firm PBK was selected to work on both the elementary and middle school projects. Thank you to the members of the project committee and the school board for working so hard to ensure that the best choice was made for our schools.
