CHS Basketball Update

Over the holiday break Central participated in the East Baton Rouge Parish Tournament held at Southern University. They won one game and lost two games. Central defeated Woodlawn 30-29, and lost to Scotlandville and Zachary. Central was led in all three games by senior Austin Stewart. He had 58 points in the tournament and was named to the all tournament team. The Wildcats were plagued by turnovers in the two losses. On January 5, 2016 Central lost 47-61 to Belaire High.
The Wildcats rebounded with a victory on Friday night against Lee High 58-49. Austin Stewart made 4 three pointers and led the team with 22 points, Josh Herbert had 9 points, and Hunter Arnold had 8 points. Central hosted Catholic High on Tuesday, January 12. The Wildcats will begin district play on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. The first of 10 district games will be at Walker. Central’s record is 8 wins and 8 losses, and they are currently ranked 40th in 5A. The top 32 teams make the playoffs, and Central will have the opportunity to move up during the next phase of the season. They will play at home with all district opponents.
