Dr. Scott Browning Named Parade Grand Marshal
The Central Chamber of Commerce has announced the Grand Marshal of the 2015 Christmas Parade will be Dr. Scott R. Browning. Dr. Browning has long established roots in Central. His grandfather Jimmy Browning was raised on his father, Henry Browning’s, farm on Lovett Road. Though not raised in Central, Dr. Browning established a Family and Cosmetic Dental practice in Central in late 1977, moving to his present location in 1984.
Dr. Browning is an honor graduate of LSU School of Dentistry, a member of the C. Edmond Kells Dental Honor Society and a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Dental Honor Society and recipient of the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award upon graduation. He is also an active member and has been elected to offices for the Louisiana Dental Association and the Sixth District Dental Association now known as the Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association. He also belongs to the American Dental Association, East Baton Rouge Dental Association and the Continuing Dental Education of Baton Rouge Association. He was also a key person in establishing the dental program for the Dixon Correctional Institute.
Through the years Dr. Browning has been an innovator in the dental field using the most technologically advanced techniques and equipment to operate efficiently and make all visits as comfortable and pleasant as possible while providing the highest quality treatment possible. His philosophy has always been to help his patients keep their teeth in optimal health, maintain functionality, and to be esthetically pleasing. Dr. Browning gives much of the credit for the success of his practice to his dental staff members, both current and past, who have worked tirelessly to provide his patients top quality dental care.
Dr. Browning was one of the charter members of the Central Area Business Association (CABA), the forerunner of the Chamber of Commerce. He served in multiple positions, including president, and was a member of the Board of Directors for many years. Presently, he is a member of the Central Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Browning was one of the founders of the Central Business Expo and of the Christmas Parade itself, now in its 29th year. During all those years, Dr. Browning was always there to help get floats in the parade lined up in the Zoar Baptist Church Parking lot. Dr. Browning was designated Grand Marshal due to “all the ways he has been a supporter of the Central Community and the Chamber over the years,” shared organizer Aaron Moak.
Dr. Browning has been married to his wife Mary Beth for 42 years. The Brownings have 2 children, Ashley and Scott, and 4 grandchildren: Charles and Carianne Milton and Scott III and Raylee Browning. Dr. Browning’s favorite activities, outside of helping Central, are deer hunting and, of course, spending time with his grandchildren.
Dr. Browning has been on the Parish Council for St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church, and has served over 20 years on the Board of Commissioners for the Central Fire Department. Mary Beth shared with pride, “Knowing Scott all these years has made me a better person. Whatever he has been asked to do, he steps up and does it! He is someone who is a great example to live up to!” Congratulations Dr. Browning on this well-deserved honor!
