In Memoriam: Nettie Starns

    Nettie Watts Starns, a native of Frost, LA, a former longtime resident of Central, LA and resident of Holden, LA left this earth to be with Jesus on Monday, November 30, 2015 at the age of 85. She was born on February 16, 1930 and enjoyed spending her days in service of her Lord as a sunday school teacher, hymn leader, and pastor's wife. Her favorite scripture was 2 Corinthians 12:9 "But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 
    Nettie was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Susie Watts; 2 brothers, Leslie and Leo Willie; 3 sisters, Una Mae Ferguson, Vergie Watts, and Winnie Lea Higgins; son, Conrad Starns and granddaughter, Becky Starns. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 66 years, Rev. Joseph E. Starns; 4 children, Byron Starns and wife Donna, Gary Starns and wife Gigi, Debbie Alday and husband Tod, Russell Starns and wife Jennifer; daughter-in-love Rhonda Starns; 14 grandchildren, Julie Didier and husband David, Billy Tugwell, Kenneth Starns and wife Mandy, Jeremy Starns and wife Tammy, Joshua Starns and wife Candace, Ashley Huey and husband Scott, Holly Strickland and husband Eric, Jessica Debetaz and husband Brian, Jonathan Starns and wife Cassie, Heath Starns, Brett Starns, Brad Welch, and Caleb Welch. She was also blessed with 21 great grandchildren. 
    Nettie had a servant's heart and expressed her love best by giving of herself. She will be missed by many. Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston, LA on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 and on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 with services conducted by Rev. Paul Taylor following. Burial was on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Stafford Cemetery Number One (33388 Hwy. 1036, Holden, LA 70744). 
    Pallbearers were Jeremy Starns, Jacob Tugwell, Caleb Welch, Jonathan Starns, Justin Starns, and Heath Starns. Honorary Pallbearers were Billy Tugwell, Brett Starns, Brad Welch, Joshua Starns, and the deacons at Coburn Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please make a memorial donation to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home (www.lbch.org).
