Mayor Hires Part-Time Replacement for David Barrow

At Tuesday’s Council meeting, Mayor Junior Shelton announced the replacement for former Chief Administrative Officer David Barrow. Barrow’s employment was terminated by the Mayor without notice or explanation in early August.
Shelton explained that Central’s Chief Administrative Officer “will be a part time job because, like I say, it has been redesigned.” Retired EBR Department of Public Works Director Pete Newkirk will fill the position beginning next Monday. His duties, according to the Mayor, will “deal primarily with our projects in Central, working with DOTD, working with DPW.”
