Anthony Dupont Honored for Exceptional Test Scores

    Anthony Dupont attends Central Middle School and has just completed 7th grade. He was chosen to participate in the Duke TIP program which chooses students who have scored at or above the 95th percentile on a grade-level achievement test. As a requirement to join the program, Anthony chose to take the ACT to learn more about his academic abilities. Duke TIP then hosted annual recognition ceremonies to honor the seventh graders who scored the highest on the ACT or SAT exam.  
    Anthony scored exceptionally well on his ACT this year, earning a composite score of 29, and he was invited to attend the Louisiana State recognition ceremony at Northwestern State University on Monday, May 4, as well as the National Grand Ceremony at Duke University on Monday May 18. Anthony attended both of these ceremonies. 
    The State Recognition Ceremony honors seventh graders who have earned a score equal to or better than 50% of college-bound seniors who took the same test. The Grand Recognition Ceremony honors seventh graders who have earned scores equal to or better than 90 percent of college-bound seniors who took the same tests.  Approximately 29,367 Duke TIP 7th grade participants took the ACT, and Anthony scored in the top 1% of those students. 
    Anthony has attended Central schools since kindergarten where he has been a part of the gifted program.  He was the CIS student of the year in 5th grade, as well as the Regional Student of the Year, qualifying him to be a finalist for Louisiana Student of the Year in 2013.  Anthony’s family attributes these accomplishments to his intelligence, God-given talents and abilities, and the wonderful education he has received while attending Central public schools.
