Magnolia Market Celebrates Eight Years in Central
Submitted by Magnolia Methodist Church
Every Saturday morning, rain or shine, Magnolia United Methodist Church hosts Central’s oldest and largest farmer’s market.
The Magnolia Market has been offering homegrown or handmade specialties since 2007 at the church’s campus, 16024 Greenwell Springs Rd. “Anchor vendors” Billy Story and Cathy Balhut of Storyland farms offer fresh produce, fruit, eggs, raw honey, boiled peanuts, cracklings, award-wining strawberries, and much more.
Other vendors include “thévenet jewelry” featuring sterling silver and Swarovski crystal jewelry, Wanda Pass’ delicious Hot Tamales, and “Ms. Clodine’s" homemade low-sugar tea cakes, cookies and fresh bread.
Also available for browsing and purchase are Jim Lambert’s handmade wooden bowls, cups, and stirring spoons, Gerard’s Crazy Cajun Kitchen and Kathy Attales’ jams, jellies, pickled vegetables, spices, and hot sauces.
Other vendors include Jean LeBlanc’s crocheted crafts and homemade sweets, and Ms. Ellie’s handmade jewelry. Cypress-knee birdhouses, ceramic and metal crafts, and “Ms. Arlene’s" shrimp casserole, and blueberry and pecan pie muffins round out the Market’s offerings. Each Saturday brings new and different vendors.
Magnolia United Methodist Church would like to offer local artists, painters, crafters, cooks, and bakers a safe and accessible place to sell their products. We welcome new vendors. Contact Magnolia Market Coordinator Sue Ann Conerly at 225-261-2789, or at [email protected], for more information on becoming one of the Market’s “regulars.”
