"Take me out to the ball game." That's right the season is upon us – baseball! With it comes too much fun and many positive experiences. "Swing and a miss" the pitcher wins. "Crack, it's a base hit" the batter wins. All of this is made possible because someone took the time to teach. Basic knowledge and functions of the game must be taught in order for kids to enjoy the experience.
What a wonderful metaphor for the Christian life. In order to be effective in our "Christ-walk" it's helpful to be armed with basic knowledge. Others can contribute to the attaining of these basics, much like a coach teaches a child to catch or hit a ball.
As I assisted a team in its first practice recently, it became clear that they possessed very little knowledge of the game. Why are you even on the field or at bat – there must be a reason, right?
We, as Christians, are called to "grow in Christ." There must be a reason, right? If you know it, teach it. If you don't, may I suggest that you search out a good coach. If you need any help with finding one, I know a few.
Be blessed!
