Family Fun in Central: Enjoy Movie in the Park, Bike-A-Thon, & Car Show

By  |

There are several fun events in Central this weekend.  Movie in the Park is this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Come watch Big Hero 6 (rated PG) in Central Square at the corner of Wax and Sullivan behind Cane’s and CVS.  Bring a blanket or chair to sit on and enjoy a free snack and drink during the show, which is sponsored by Central Speaks, Acadiana Group, and Tiger Sanitation.  This event is free and open to the public.
The Central St. Jude Bike-A-Thon begins at 8:30 a.m. this Saturday at Magnolia Square and will run until around noon.  Bring your bike and helmet and ride for a good cause.  Proceeds from this family-friendly event will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a facility that treats children with serious illnesses free of charge.  This event for both kids and adults has been running in Central for over thirty years.  Registration forms are available at Sullivan Hardware, or you can sign up at the event.  Magnolia Square is located on Lovett Road across from Lovett Road Park.
The 13th Annual Car and Bike Show is happening at Zoar Baptist Church (corner of Joor and Hooper Road) this Saturday.  Cars will start arriving to be seen around 7 a.m.  Car registration ends at 10:30, so be sure to make it before then if you would like to enter your car.  The show is open to all classes.  It costs $20.00 to pre-register (includes lunch), and $25.00 to register on the day of the show (includes lunch).  This year’s show will feature a Pinewood Derby Car Race from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Contact Candy Norton at 225-261-3434 for more information.
