CAPA Corner: Another Love
I have to make a confession; I have another love in my life besides my wife! Sound confusing?
This week is Valentine’s week. There will be cards shared, dinners together, special gifts exchanged, and flowers given. All this will be done to express our love for that special someone in our lives. Unfortunately, there will be some who confess to be that special Valentine this year who will be hard to find when this time rolls around next year. What if you could have a love that would be guaranteed to last a lifetime? Someone who would definitely be here this time next year? Would you jump at a chance for such a relationship?
Let me tell you about the love in my life. I will call this love in my life “R.” “R’s” dedication to my life is phenomenal! Before I ever expressed my love, “R” expressed love for me. When I get distracted and don’t pay “R” attention, “R” doesn’t get upset but instead waits patiently for me. When I finally do get around to paying “R” attention, I don’t get the cold shoulder, but instead I find a loving and listening ear. “R’s” love for me is not based upon my performance but based on unconditional love! Let me identify this love of my life. “R’s” name is God, Creator, Abba Father, Jesus Christ, Savior, and the Shepherd of my soul, just to name a few! I am blessed to be married to my lovely wife for almost 35 years. However, we both understand that 35 years has been possible because of the love of God in our lives!
Look at what 1 John 4:7-11 tells us, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” NKJV
If you have never done so, take time this Valentine’s season to let God become the love of your life. You will find that no matter what you’ve been through, He is ready to express His love toward you. If you already have a relationship with God but have not paid Him any attention, turn to Him. God has been patiently waiting to hear from you because He wants to always be the love of your life. He wants to be your Valentine!
