Code RED Chili Cookoff Results
Lane Regional Medical Center’s inaugural Code Red Chili Cook-off raised more than $14,000 for the LaneRMC Foundation.
Emceed by radio personality Sam McGuire, the event was held at the Americana/Level Home Development in Zachary on Saturday, November 15th. In addition to tasting some world-class chili, activities included music and live remote with WYNK, craft beer tasting with Brasseurs a la Maison home brewing club, and a classic car show in celebration of the Ford Mustang’s 50th Anniversary.
Out of nine competing teams, three were named Best Chili winners by local celebrity judges:
Best Chili
1st Place: The Heat Is On, Head Cook- Travis Hughes
2nd Place: Tiger’s Eye Chili, Head Cook- Lacy Tranchina
3rd Place: Chili H2O, Head Cook- Hays Owen
People’s Choice: The Heat Is On, Head Cook- Travis Hughes
Best Team Spirit: Slicin’ and Dicin’, Head Cook- Kenny Havard
Additional chili teams included: The ZAPS, Head Cook- Gary Miller; Extreme Eats, Head Cook- Danielle DuBroc; The Camp Cooks, Head Cook- Ty Roy; Chili Commanders, Head Cook- Jason Allen; and Totally Cool Chili, Head Cook- Barrett Smelley.
The Code Red Chili Cook-off was sponsored by Fox44, WYNK, Superior Ford and The Advocate.
