“Recycle Your Electronics Day” is October 24

    The city of Central  and the Capital Area Corporate Recycling invite the Central community to participate in the 2014 “Recycle Your Electronics Day” event. 
    This event will take place Friday, October 24, 2014, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall parking lot, 13421 Hooper Rd, Central, LA 70818.  CACRC staff members will be on site to lend a helping hand throughout the event.
    Recyclables that are accepted include computer hardware and accessories, laptops, phones, video games, printers, toner cartridges, fax machines, stereos, just to name a few. Appliances, copiers, televisions and furniture cannot be recycled through the CACRC or at the event. For a complete list of items, go online to www.cacrc.com/what.html. 
    All functional equipment is refurbished and discounted for low-income families, veterans, senior citizens or given to schools and community centers by the CACRC or made available for sale to the general public. 
    All other materials will be recycled responsibly via R2 standards. All hard drives will be erased to top national standard. In implementing a rigorous material management strategy set by the international Responsible Recycling Practices program, the CACRC follows downstream and data material safely until the end of life product, and is the only R2 certified recycler in Louisiana. 
    The event is for individuals only. Businesses and individuals who miss this event can drop off their electronics at CACRC's warehouse located at 1400 Main Street  Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm  For more information about the event, call (225) 379-3577, or (225) 261-5255. 
    The Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council is a nonprofit organization committed to electronic scrap reduction by providing recycled computers and equipment to schools, nonprofits, and low-income families through the generous contributions of supporters, which include business, nonprofits, individuals, and federal agencies.
