CENTRAL PRIVATE REBELS HONORED AT BANQUET

The Central Private Rebels recently honored its district championship football team at its athletic banquet.  The Dixie Darling dance team, cheerleaders, and softball team were also honored.  In celebrating its accomplishments, many of the athletes were presented with awards.

The softball team continued its improvements compared to a year ago and look toward next year.  Hannah Prather and Mary Roshto were given the captain’s awards and Mallory Gregoire was named the team’s MVP.

The cheerleaders also celebrated their numerous accomplishments.  They were awarded the Game Day Top Team, Best Motions, and S.P.O.T. medals at the Northwestern cheer camp.  All members of the team were nominated to the All American team and Sarah Fryoux, and Kelsey Purpera made the All American team.

The district champion football Rebels received many accolades and all-district honors.  The entire Rebel front line, “the put em away gang”  were named 1st team all-district.  The group  includes Thomas Bourgeois-tight end, Andy Kinchen-guard, Travis Rose-tackle, Steven Whiddon-center, Kameron Tate-guard, and Matt Overlease-tackle.  These outstanding blockers opened holes for offensive MVP Bobby Muse to rush for over 1,500 yards.
The Rebel defense was also outstanding.  Led by defensive MVP Jacob Fryoux at safety, the Rebels placed 7 players on the all-district team.  In  addition to Fryoux, Tyler Schultz, was selected at defensive tackle,  three linebackers Brennon Courville, Travis Richard, and Chase Metz were selected.  Gage Wilkinson and  T.J. Wilkinson joined Fryoux in the defensive backfield.

In addition to the all-district team,  the Rebels also handed out their own awards.  Rose and Kinchen were awarded the best linemen award and Matt Overlease and Matt Wallace were announced as the most improved on offense.  Muse was voted the best offensive back.  These awards were announced by Coach Carl DeJohn.  Coach Jamie Longmire handed the best defensive lineman to Schultz and Bourgeois.  Coach Brian Smith awarded the best defensive backs trophy to Jason Young and T.J. Wilkinson.  Jacob Fryoux was named the defensive MVP.  The coaches awards were given to Chase Metz, Travis Richard and Steven Whiddon.  Team captains awards were given to Courville and Fryoux.  Kameron Tate was the winner of the weight lifting award.
