Central is already enjoying the Greek and Lebanese dining experience offered by Café Delphi.  In fact, they’re enjoying it so much that owners Mir and Nasima Hassan have moved next door to the old Fox’s Pizza location to offer expanded seating!  You can still get the same great Chicken Shwarma and Gyros and homemade hummus and other delights, just in a new location.
Having moved, Mir and Nasima saw an opportunity in the old location.  Mir owned Rocco’s Poboy Shop at the gates of LSU for 8 years, and knows what a great po-boy should taste like.  He decided to use that experience to offer Central a genuine American treat in a new restaurant called “Crescent Kitchen.” Using only bread baked by the famous Leidenheimer Bakery in New Orleans, Mir has crafted the genuine New Orleans po-boy experience without the travel time to the Big Easy.  His roast beef po-boy is layers of tender, thin-sliced roast beef, topped with his rich, homemade gravy.  His fried shrimp po-boy is bursting with crispy Louisiana shrimp.  The Fried Catfish po-boy is flaky and moist and delicious.  Customers dining this week at Crescent Kitchen praised his po-boys and also his half pound hamburger, hand formed using only grass fed beef.  Supplied by Cutrer’s  Meat Market in Kentwood, the beef is fresh, savory, and good for you too.  Grass fed beef is now being hailed by health professionals as having the same amount of fat as skinless chicken, with the ability to lower bad cholesterol levels.  It contains high levels of beneficial Omega-3 fatty acids, proven to be the most “heart-friendly.”  Several customers, experiencing the burger for the first time, praised its juicy, flavorful taste.  Mir makes the meatballs for the meatball po-boy from the same great beef.
Plenty of delicious sides are available to round out the po-boy experience.  In addition to perfect onion rings, seasoned fries, hushpuppies, and other favorites, Mir has a new taste offering – Gourmet Poutine Fries.  His cousin in Canada introduced him to this huge hit from up north – fries served with gravy and cheese.  They have to be sampled to be believed.  It’s a great meld of “North meets South”.
Seafood platters featuring shrimp, catfish, and oysters, are served with your choice of 2 sides.  Chicken wings, freshly made in-house, come in barbeque, buffalo, or garlic parmesan flavors.  Salads made of produce delivered fresh each day come topped with your choice of shrimp or fish.  Pulled Pork is slow-cooked for that delicious, slip-off-the-bone tenderness.  If you still have room after consuming the mammoth portions, cheesecake makes a sweet ending to the meal. “Satisfaction is one hundred percent guaranteed,” Mir says with assurance.  “If you’re not completely satisfied, we’ll refund your money, no questions asked.”
Everyone is invited to come out and try the rib-sticking offerings at Crescent Kitchen by using the coupon to the left.  Or come out for “Crescent Moon Day” at Crescent Kitchen, where children 12 and under dine free and adults receive 10% off their meals on Mondays when the moon is in crescent phase.  This Monday, May 2, will be the first such event.
